Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce

Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce is rich, smooth, chocolatey and creamy - the ultimate topping for ice cream sundaes! This homemade version makes a perfect holiday gift for the chocolate lovers on your list or just to keep around to satisfy any of those chocolate cravings!

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate chopped
  • 3 TBSP unsalted butter cubed
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 TBSP light corn syrup
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt or kosher salt
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate and the butter in a bowl set over simmering water, stir until smooth.
  • In a medium saucepan, while the chocolate is melting, whisk together the sugars, cocoa, corn syrup, salt and heavy cream.
  • Heat the mixture over low-medium heat until the mixture starts to thicken and comes to a low boil.
  • Continue to cook for 45 seconds.
  • Remove from the heat and whisk in the melted chocolate.
  • Serve over ice cream, cake or whatever suits your fancy.

Notes

The hot fudge sauce can be stored for up to one week in the refrigerator. Rewarm gently and use a bit of cream to thin out if mixture is too thick.
