Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats

These Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats are a scrumptious snack combining peanut butter candy, chocolate, Rice Krispies, and marshmallows. What could be better? They come together in just minutes on the stovetop and microwave, so no baking needed!

If you have followed this blog for a bit than you know I LOVE peanut butter and anytime I can use it or peanut butter cups in a recipe I do. The inspiration for this recipe came from a photo that I saw on Pinterest, the recipe is from Food Snot. It’s delicious!

I am a huge fan of homey, easy desserts, especially if they are cereal treats with marshmallows or corn syrup, so these treats were right up my alley.

Ingredients

  • Rice Krispies Cereal
  • Reese’s mini peanut butter cups (or Reese’s Bunny candies from Easter)
  • Butter or margarine
  • Light Karo syrup
  • Multi-colored miniature marshmallows
  • Peanut butter
  • Chocolate chips

How to Make Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats

This recipe is adapted from Food Snots.

  1. In a large bowl, combine cereal and diced Reeses. Set aside.
  2. Spray a 8 x 8 in. pan with cooking spray and set aside.
  3. In a large pot melt butter over low heat.
  4. Add karo syrup and marshmallows and stir continuously until mixture is smooth.
  5. Remove from heat and add cereal mixture into the pot and fold together just until cereal is evenly
  6. coated. 
  7. Press mixture into the 8 x 8 in.pan. Set aside.
  8. In a small microwave safe bowl, add peanut butter.
  9. Microwave for 30 second to a minute to melt.
  10. Set aside to let cool slightly.
  11. In a separate small microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate at 30 second intervals, stirring between intervals, until smooth.
  12. Set aside to let cool slightly.
  13. You can either drizzle the peanut butter and the chocolate over the treats or pour over the top and swirl around.

Tips & Variations

  • Switch the candy. Try another peanut butter flavored candy if you don’t have Reese’s.
  • Swap out the marshmallows. Use plain marshmallows instead of colored ones.
  • Change the chips. Try white chocolate or milk chocolate chips for a change.

Storage

These squares can be stored in a cool place, covered, for 2-3 days, then refrigerate in a covered container for up to one week.

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 1 bag Reeses mini peanut butter cups or Reeses Bunny candy from Easter
  • 5 TBSP butter or margarine
