No Bake Turtle Tart Recipe

I love how simple they are to throw together and the combination of chocolate, pecans, and caramel is to-die-for. The flavor combo is perfect for the holidays, but you’ll want to make these treats all year long!

Sometimes you just need a mouthwatering dessert without going to a lot of fuss.

These little no bake chocolate turtle tarts take only a few minutes to throw together, and you’ll get a chilled desert that tastes delicious and looks beautiful, too.

With this recipe you can make one large graham-cracker crust tart or many little turtle tarts. How can you miss with chocolate, caramel, and pecans? Don’t worry, you can’t!

Ingredients

  • Pecans
  • Chocolate crumb crust (I usually use a store-bought Oreo crust)
  • Caramels
  • Evaporated milk
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Heavy cream
  • Butter
  • Garnish with chopped nuts, berries, or whipped cream.

How to Make No Bake Turtle Tarts

  1. Place pecans on the purchased crust or crust that you made.
  2. Heat the caramels and the evaporated milk over low heat, until melted and smooth.
  3. Pour over pecans.
  4. Heat cream, chocolate chips and butter in a pan over low heat until melted and smooth.
  5. Pour over caramel layer.
  6. Refrigerate 4 hours.
  7. Top with whipped cream and berries if you wish or just more chopped nuts.

NOTE: The original recipe is for one 9-inch pie. I made one pie and used a little of the ingredients to make these 3 little tarts. You should be able to make between 6-12 mini-tarts from this recipe, depending on the size of your tart pans.

Tips & Variations

  • Swap the nuts. Replace the pecans with roasted walnuts or hazelnuts.
  • Change the chips. Try using dark chocolate or milk chocolate chips.
  • Add some Bourbon. After melting the caramels, stir in a splash of Bourbon for a deep, cozy flavor.

Storage

You can store this tart/tarts in the refrigerator (without garnishes) for 4-5 days in an airtight container or loosely wrapped in plastic wrap.

Freeze your tart/tarts by wrapping tightly in plastic and storing in an airtight container for up to one month.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cups pecans toasted and chopped
  • 1 chocolate crumb crust purchased or homemade
  • 1 bag caramels 34 unwrapped
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 11/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
