Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats

These aren’t any ordinary rice kripsie treats! With browned butter and peanut butter cups, these are loaded with flavor, plus a decadent chocolate ganache on top. Peanut butter rice krispie treats are the best ever!

Is there anything better than a cereal treat? They are hands-down some of the easiest and most favorite treat/dessert that I make.

Throw in a little browned butter, peanut butter cups and chocolate and you have created a decadent, delicious treat!

The nutty flavor of the browned butter, the creamy marshmallows and crispy cereal combined with the peanut nut butter and chocolate… Frankly there are no words to tell you how good these are, they are a little like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and an Outrageous candy bar combined.

Ingredients

  • Marshmallows
  • Browned butter
  • Rice Krispie cereal
  • Peanut butter
  • Peanut butter cup mini’s
  • Chocolate chips
  • Heavy cream

How to Make Browned Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats

  1. Prepare 8 x8″ pan with cooking spray.
  2. Melt butter in a small pan over low to medium heat.
  3. Once melted watch the butter and stir until the butter foams and turns brown. Be very careful it burns easily.
  4. Add the marshmallows to the browned butter and stir until melted.
  5. Add the rice krispie cereal and stir until combined.
  6. Pour and press into the prepared pan.
  7. While warm sprinkle the top with the mini-peanut butter cups. 
  8. In a small bowl add peanut butter and melt in the microwave, about 30-50 seconds.
  9. Pour the peanut butter over the mini-peanut butter cups then set pan aside.
  10. Pour chocolate chips into a bowl and set aside.
  11. In a small pan over low heat, warm the heavy cream until small bubbles appear around the edges.  
  12. Pour cream over the chocolate chips.
  13. Wait a few minutes until the cream melts the chips and then whisk until smooth.
  14. Pour mixture over the cereal treats and smooth out.
  15. Then refrigerate for a least 30 minutes, cut ,and enjoy!

Tips & Variations

  • Change the chips and cups. Try a different combo of milk chocolate, white chocolate or dark chocolate chips and Reese’s loaded, fudge, dark or milk chocolate cups.
  • Switch out the cereal. Sub cocoa krispies or your favorite cereal for the rice krispies.
  • Swap the peanut butter. Try Reese’ almond butter cups and almond butter.

Storage

Cover these bars and store in a cool place for up to 3 days, then move to refrigerator for up to 5 days.

  • 1 10-oz. bag marshmallows
  • 1 stick browned butter
  • 5 cups Rice Krispie cereal
  • 1 cup peanut butter melted
  • 1 bag peanut butter cup mini's
  • 1 8-oz bag chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Prepare 8 x8″ pan with cooking spray.
