Sometimes simple is best and this hot chocolate recipe may actually be the world’s best. I discovered this hot cocoa recipe on Pinterest recently and thought I would give it a try. It is so easy and delicious, and the pinch of salt makes all the difference! The perfect drink for a cold day.

  • Cocoa
  • Sugar

How to Make The World’s Best Hot Cocoa

This recipe is from Ashlee Marie.

  1. In a saucepan mix all of the dry ingredients.
  2. Add the water and bring to a boil.
  3. Keep boiling for 1 minute then add the milk.
  4. Whisk well and bring to a boil.
  5. Pour into glasses and serve. 

Tips & Variations

  • Add some toppings. Try a swirl of whipped cream, some mini-marshmellows, chocolate shavings or a sprinkle of crushed peppermint candies.
  • Spice it up. A pinch of warm spices like cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and allspice will add to the holiday flavor of this cocoa beverage.

Storage

This hot chocolate is best served immediately. Remaining cocoa can be refrigerated in an airtight jar or pot for up to 24 hours.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • In a saucepan mix all of the dry ingredients.
  • Add the water and bring to a boil.
  • Keep boiling for 1 minute then add the milk.
  • Whisk well and bring to a boil.
  • Pour into glasses and serve.
