  • Bittersweet chocolate
  • Unsweetened chocolate
  • Granulated sugar
  • Large eggs
  • Salt
  • Vanilla extract
  • All purpose flour
  • Cocoa powder

How to Make The Ultimate Fudgy Brownie

This recipe is originally from Serious Eats.

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Prepare 13 x 8 pan with tin foil and then spray with cooking spray.
  3. Set aside.
  4. In a double boiler set over medium heat, melt the butter the bittersweet chocolate and the unsweetened chocolate.
  5. Once melted, set aside to cool.
  6. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, then add the salt and the vanilla extract.
  7. Combine the flour and the cocoa in a small bowl.
  8. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg, sugar mixture and whisk until smooth and combined.
  9. Add the flour and stir until just combined, do not over mix.
  10. Pour the batter into prepared pan.
  11. Cook for 23-30 minutes. Do not over bake.

Tips & Variations

  • Add crunch. Try tossing in a handful of toasted walnuts, pecans or hazelnuts, some toffee bits, or chunks of Oreo cookies.
  • Add candy. Mix-in some chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups, Snickers, white, dark or milk chocolate chips, butterscotch or peanut butter chips.
  • Swirl in some flavorings. Try adding a swirl of peanut butter, marshmallow creme, or raspberry jam.
  • Top them. Frost with your favorite chocolate buttercream, chocolate ganache, marshmallow creme, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Storage

These brownies can be stored in a covered container for up to 4 days, or refrigerate for up to one week.
