You know those chill-you-to-the-bone winter days? There’s no better remedy than a little hot cocoa. It’ll warm you up quickly and just may serve as a little carrot to dangle in front of yourself to get out and brace the chill.
As someone who drinks hot chocolate everyday and has tons of hot chocolate recipes, this is one of my favorites! The hint of espresso really takes it over the top and adds some depth to balance the sweetness. There’s nothing better!

Sugar
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Instant espresso powder
Vanilla extract
Your favorite milk
Half and half
Marshmallows
How to Make Mocha Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows
Place all ingredients in a medium saucepan, except milk and half and half.
Cook over low heat, whisking constantly until cocoa is dissolved and the mixture is a paste.
Slowly add the milk and half and half, whisking until small bubbles appear around the edges of the pan. Do not boil.
Pour into glasses and top with marshmallows.
Tips & Variations
Sub out the topping. Try a spoonful of sweetened whipping cream instead of the marshmallows.
Add more coffee flavor. Add a spoonful of Kahlua, Bailey’s, or coffee extract.
Try more chocolate. Add a bit of dark chocolate to thicken the cocoa and deepen the flavor.
