Tips & Variations
Change the candy. Instead of the usual peanut butter cups, try dark chocolate peanut butter or almond butter cups, chopped Andes mints, Snickers, or white, milk, butterscotch, peanut butter, or dark chocolate chips.
Add mix-ins. Some coconut or chopped pecans, almonds, walnuts or hazelnuts would add extra crunch.
Switch out the pretzels. Try crushed potato chips, rice krispies, or other cereal for a change.
Change the condensed milk. Swap the regular condensed milk for dulce de leche for a rich caramel flavor.
Storage
The candy/cookie bars can be stored on the countertop in a covered dish for 2 days, then refrigerated for up to 5 days. They can also be frozen in a tightly sealed container for up to 2 months.
